Israeli forces detain 11 Palestinians in occupied West Bank

Locals in the town of Bani Naim, located in east of the southern occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron), said that Israeli troops raided the town after midnight, ransacking several homes, before detaining 17-year-old Ahmad Nafiz al-Tarayra and Hani Abd al-Wahhab al-Khudour.

In al-Khalil, Israeli forces also detained Baraa Dufish after breaking into his home.

In the West Bank city of Bethlehem, Israeli forces detained 19-year-old Muhammad Issa Hamamra and Sanad Muhammad Hamamra, also 19, from the town of Husan.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed the detentions in Bani Naim, al-Khalil, and Husan, and also said that four Palestinians were detained in the town of al-Zababida in the Jenin refugee camp in northern West Bank.

Meanwhile, Israeli police spokesperson Luba al-Samri said in a statement that two Palestinians were detained in al-Tur neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem (al-Quds). 

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a biweekly average of 85 search and detention raids carried thus far in 2017, according to UN documentation.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,128 Palestinians were detained by Israel as of July, 320 of whom were children. The group has estimated that some 40 percent of Palestinian men will be detained by Israel at some point in their lives.
